Coiling is one of the oldest ceramic techniques in the world, used for thousands of years to build vessels slowly, by hand, one coil at a time. It’s incredibly time-consuming and physically demanding. Every one of my fairies begins this way. Each body is carefully built coil by coil, allowing the form to grow gradually. Nothing is moulded, cast, or mass produced… just clay, patience, and my hands. From the first coil to the final glaze, it takes me around three months to create a full collection
