When it comes to soldering silver, many jewellers will differ in opinion on the importance of allowing it to cool before quenching. I will happily quench a lot of my work straight after heating it and rarely encounter a problem. BUT when it comes to bezel settings and larger pieces which involve more silver or more work time, I’m a bit more risk-averse and will ALWAYS allow them to cool before quenching and pickling.
