Our first migratory species we’re going to look at is the avocet. Avocets first started breeding here in 2011, making us the most northerly breeding site in the UK at the time. After breeding in Europe, in autumn avocets fly south into North Africa, with some individuals continuing over the Sahara to West Africa.
