Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Friday sentenced to 14 years in prison, and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in a case related to the misuse of authority and corruption involving Khan’s Al-Qadir University Project Trust. Khan was also given a fine of 1 million Pakistani rupees ($3,500), while Bibi was fined half that amount. The verdict in the case, the largest in terms of financial wrongdoing faced by Khan, was delivered by an anti-graft court in a prison in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, where Khan has been jailed since August 2023. Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the anti-corruption court announced the verdict that had been deferred thrice due to different reasons, last time on January 13. The judge announced the verdict in a makeshift court set up in Adila jail.

Islamabad: The District and Sessions Court has granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi until January 13 in cases related to the November 26 protest, according to a report by ARY News. Duty Judge Shabeer Bhatti presided over the hearing of her interim bail petitions. Bushra Bib appeared in court accompanied by her legal team to seek interim bail in four cases filed at Tarnol police station and three at Ramana police station.
