May 1, 2020 · But I do believe they still use the original formulations. Etc. it’s not a bad classic car oil. Kendall Competition 20w50. 1200ish ppm of zinc. Would be about the same as the VR1 20w50. Also has the titanium additive for further anti wear. I’m a big Kendall fan, so this would be my go to for a conventional group 2 product, with high zinc.

Aug 28, 2024 · Check a couple times to be sure. If it fails to lock the bolt back, even if it ejected, then go to the light setting. The results you get can depend on how clean the gun is, and even the oil you use. A lot of gun oils are poor lubricators. I recommend you use 5w30 or similar motor oil on the magazine tube. This is what they were designed to use.

Aug 17, 2017 · The BCG sliding is minimal pressure. Compared to a car engine where all of the points the oil lubes would be equivalent to the bolt lugs or greater. Your rifle probably experiences an oil change every 500 miles (almost all of it "cold"), compared to the car at 5,000. So the oil only has to last 1/10 the time.

Maybe have been a little different then, but now Hoppes Number 9 cleaner (not lube, not the Elite) is about 45% kerosene, 45% denatured alcohol, 5% ammonia, and 5% banana oil (for the smell). Kerosene and alcohol have been a standby by for decades as a cleaner for guns.
