Apr 2, 2023 · Not worthless, but it indexes on what the seller lists it for because the seller knows more about the house than Redfin. For example the higher price could be because significant renovations are done. However after a house is sold I find Redfin estimate to be accurate within 1 year of sale because it uses comps to adjust the house value.

Now, Redfin says their estimate in 2019 was $1.5m, and current estimate is $1.9m. Based on comps, I’d actually guess it’s closer to $1.6m. So, their estimates are way off, and I’m not sure why they retroactively replaced a piece of good data with a piece of bad.
