Oct 28, 2024 · Speaking for myself: I'm using an M1 Mac mini – a system similar to your MacBook Air – and I don't perceive a drop in performance; I intend to continue upgrading to new OS releases in the future. (I haven't yet installed OS 18.1, though, which sounds like something of a fundamental architecture shift with the big Apple Intelligence features.

Oct 18, 2024. #1. Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my recent upgrade from a MacBook 2015 13-inch to the M1 Pro 14-inch, and wow, what a difference! The speed and performance are phenomenal—it's like night and day. This M1 Pro is a smooth, noiseless beast! 😄. I managed to snag a great deal from a shopkeeper with a good bargain.
How many watts does the M1 MacBook really need?
Jan 7, 2021 · The 30W charger from the MacBook Air definitely doesn't have enough power to supply both USB-C and USB-A ports on my Caldigit SOHO dock. My M1 MacBook Air goes to sleep when using clamshell mode if I plug in an ethernet adapter and then a thumb drive. I guess if the charge falls off, the power circuit thinks the MBA isn't plugged in to the charger.

Nov 23, 2020 · It was plug and play. I used the USB-C cable that came with my Dell monitor. I just plugged the cable into the monitor and into my Macbook Air M1, the monitor asked if I wanted to switch to the USB-C input, and I was done. I didn't change the resolution or the refresh rate.

Jul 11, 2024. #8. At the current rate I suspect Apple needs to obsolete the M1 platform via software locks, because it performs very reliable and with great performance for the upcoming years without major drawbacks. My Mac Mini M1 16GB/512GB performs flawlessly.
Is 20w adapter enough to charge and operate M1 MacBook Air?
Nov 20, 2020 · 2019 Macbook Air, 18W charger: - Will slowly charge with normal tasks (Safari, Pages, Keynote). - Won't charge when using apps that use a lot of resources (like FCPX editing). - Will slowly lose battery percentage when pushing the laptop (like FCPX rendering) With M1 Air and 20W charger it will be only better than this.

Jan 16, 2021 · Our Macbook Air M1 with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD arrived just yesterday evening. I updated it to Big Sur 11.1 and then proceeded to restore from a TimeMachine backup of our mac Mini M1 running Big Sur 11.1. It was a fresh TimeMachine on an USB-C SSD.
