The whole chess dojo team, their videos, the discord, all of it is top notch. For some trainers, something equivalent to their program and community would cost hundreds of dollars, but its free! edit: oh its not free, but cheap!

Feb 18, 2023 · You're paying for the structure, and a cohort of like-minded, dedicated chess enthusiasts. You could readily do all the requirements of the dojo - Polgar tactics, play and analyze classical games, review masters games, and as you go up, read some well-known strategy books. But you can't really replace the "virtual chess club" that you get with it.

i don't even agree that chess is purely intellectual— we saw twice today the physiological and psychological effects of the game swing the evaluation bar. both gukesh and alireza let the clock get to them— gukesh surrendered a comfortable lead that he had to fight to regain in a prolonged engame; alireza blundered away a potential draw.

Feedback: Polgar's Learn Chess the Right Way was a good book for drilling tactics with a clear thematic focus. One of the books for my cohort is Susan Polgar's Learn Chess the Right Way, vol. 3. I liked the format of it enough that I ended up doing the whole series.

Apr 18, 2023 · I'm rated ~750 chess.com rapid and feel like l'd benefit from a structured program - all the free content seems overwhelming. Big concern is only games with long classical time controls "count" towards the program, and I imagine it's difficult finding people on lichess and chess.com who are interested in that.

Better yet: how to NOT spend money on chess, but still improve. And people can use this to spend less money if the progress they need requires monetary investment. Which materials stay and which go for Dojo 3.0 on May 1st
