Butler's Rangers (1777–1784) was a Loyalist provincial military unit of the American Revolutionary War, raised by American loyalist John Butler. Most members of the regiment were Loyalists from upstate New York and northeastern Pennsylvania.

Presented here is the first complete set of muster rolls known for Butler’s Rangers. Later rolls were made out, but sadly have not yet surfaced. This set, and a 1783 return that is similar to a muster roll, can be found in the Haldimand Papers.

Butler once again moved his Rangers back into the Indian country where they conducted devastating raids against the rebel frontier. On 10 November, tramping through newly fallen snow, Butler’s son, Captain Walter Butler, led a punishing raid into Cherry Valley.

Butler's Rangers launched many significant raids from their principal headquarters at Fort Niagara and kept a large part of the frontier in turmoil. Butler led two hundred rangers and three hundred Indians that devastated the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania on 3 July 1778.

Lieutenant-Colonel John Butler (c. April 28, 1728 – May 12, 1796) was a British Indian Department officer, landowner and merchant. During the American Revolutionary War, he was a prominent Loyalist who commanded Butler's Rangers.
