From 1938 to 1956 and again with the Studebaker Avanti, Loewy and his talented staff created Studebaker’s most iconic designs.

Loewy had a long and fruitful relationship with American car maker Studebaker. Studebaker first retained Loewy and Associates and Helen Dryden as design consultants in 1936 [14]: [p.247] and in 1939 Loewy began work with the principal designer Virgil Exner. [14][15] Their designs first began appearing with the late-1930s Studebakers.

In fact, these still-beautiful cars were almost 100% the work of Robert Bourke who was assigned by Loewy to the Studebaker account.
