The White House says TikTok will be sold to a U.S. joint venture
After four deadline extensions to force a sale of TikTok, the U.S. is finally close to a sale agreement for the massively popular video platform, a White House official said Monday.
The White House on Monday announced basic details of a plan it says will "save" TikTok for the social media app's 170 million U.S. users through a new ownership deal, although China has suggested a deal has yet to be finalized.
WASHINGTON — The White House is suspending public tours because of the construction of a 90,000-square-foot ballroom initiated by President Donald Trump, a White House official said. The official did not provide a timeline for when tours would resume, saying only that the suspension is temporary.
The White House moved to put further pressure on Democrats on Wednesday night, with Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought issuing a memo directing agencies to prepare plans to make permanent layoffs if funding lapses, on top of the typical furloughs that happen during shutdowns.
