Jasprit Bumrah came up with another memorable show at home as India bowled Bangladesh out for 149. On a day which saw 17 wickets fall, India seized control, stretching their lead to 308 runs on Friday.

Bangladesh pace bowler Hasan Mahmud picked up his second five-wicket haul in a row as India was bowled out for 376 runs in its first innings on Day 2 of the first cricket test.

Bangladesh were alive in the game and fighting when off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz troubled the Indian batters with a five-wicket haul while defending a target of just 145 runs. In his five-for, Miraz dismissed Pujara, Gill, Kohli, Pant and Axar and had India reeling at 74/7. But, his effort went in vain as Iyer and Ashwin took India home.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss on Thursday and decided to send India in to bat in the first cricket test. India was playing a test for the first time since March when it beat England 4-1 in a five-match series in India.

It was an unusual decision to put India in to bat in a Test match in India, but team selections on both sides and the overhead conditions seemed to back up Bangladesh's call

India faces Bangladesh in a Test series, with both teams eager to prove themselves. Bangladesh aims for an upset, while India seeks to consolidate its lead in the World Test Championship.
