Much of the Bahamas are expected to be soaked — with six to eight inches of rain in the heaviest spots near Eleuthera and Abaco — and be swept by winds of 45 mph and up as the depression strengthens into Tropical Storm Imelda as early as today.
Although this is the first weekend of fall, it will still feel like summer as highs will soar to 90 degrees and it will "feel-like" the upper 90s and triple-digits with a 40% chance of showers and storms. The chance of rain will decrease early to mid-next week.
Hurricane Imelda formed Tuesday, Sept. 30, off the Florida coast. The Category 1 hurricane is expected to strengthen.
