Shopify merchants will soon be able to sell their products through ChatGPT, as the Canadian e-commerce software company says it has struck a partnership with U.S. tech giant OpenAI to make the sales possible.

ChatGPT's "Instant Checkout" feature lets consumers make purchases on single items without having to leave the app.

Launching first in partnership with Etsy and Shopify, the Instant Checkout functionality has the potential to rival Amazon and Google, one expert said.
