2026 World Cup: Instant classic goals send wild and weird Scotland through after 28-year wait
Scotland is finally going back to the World Cup following a 28-year wait after a wild win capped a truly weird qualifying campaign.
Kieran Tierney's goal in the third minute of stoppage time gave Scotland the last laugh of a 4-2 thriller with 10-man Denmark at Hamden Park in Glasgow.
Scott McTominay's third-minute overhead kick was good enough to win any game but was ultimately just a blur as Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean struck in stoppage time, Tierney with a sublime left-footer and McLean a stunner from the halfway line.
European qualifying for the 2026 World Cup has concluded with Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Scotland and Austria securing the region’s remaining automatic spots.
