Prince will receive lifetime achievement Grammy, a prize usually for underrecognized artists
Over the years, Prince, who showed up at the Grammys to present and receive awards, has been nominated for 38 Grammys. He last won one in 2008 for best male R&B vocal performance for “Future Baby Mama.” Three of his albums have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame — “1999″ in 2008, “Purple Rain” in 2011 and “Sign o’ the Times” in 2017.
Prince to be honored with lifetime achievement Grammy award
Minnesota music icon Prince will be among the artists honored with a lifetime achievement Grammy in 2025. The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 2nd, but the Recording Academy will honor multiple artists at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony the day before.
Prince and The Clash head list of 2025 Grammy Lifetime Achievement honorees
The 2024 Lifetime Achievement honorees included Laurie Anderson, N.W.A., Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Tammy Wynette, and the Clark Sisters. A number of former San Diegans have been previous honorees, including Ravi Shankar, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Patti Page and members of the Kingston Trio.
