From Seahawks to Cowboys and beyond, we're breaking down the NFC playoff picture by ranking the 2025 wild-card contenders.
5. Buffalo Bills (7-3), wild card No. 1: QB Josh Allen's big game Sunday moved Buffalo up one spot in the seeding but got the Bills no closer to the AFC East lead. Tough game in Houston looms Thursday night. Remaining schedule: at Texans, at Steelers, vs. Bengals, at Patriots, at Browns, vs. Eagles, vs. Jets
If the Giants lose as a heavy underdog Sunday to the Lions, they will become the NFL’s first team eliminated from playoff contention if any of the following results also happen: a Seahawks win or tie as heavy favorites against the Titans, a Vikings win against the Packers or a Cowboys win against the Eagles.
A winning record still has the Chargers in control of their playoff destiny, at least at face value. The chance stays at an even 60 percent when looking at the numbers from NFL’s Next Gen Stats.
Texans (+5.5) over Bills. Buffalo's defense is reeling at the moment, allowing 30 or more points in back-to-back games. The Bills' run defense has been abysmal, surrendering 5.4 yards per carry (second most in the NFL). That could result in a strong day for the Texans on the ground, which could help tip the scales in favor of an upset.
