“I told you when I quit drinking, I expected there to be this windfall of weight loss,” Ripa explained to Cohen during the Jan. 22 show. “Because everybody’s like, ‘Well you are going to get too skinny, and you can’t blah blah blah.’ I gained 12 pounds. I don’t understand this ‘magical weight loss thing.’”

Kelly Ripa got candid about her weight with guest cohost Andy Cohen during an episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. Kelly’s husband, Mark Consuelos, was out shooting a movie, so Andy, 56, stepped in to cohost the show on Wednesday.

Kelly Ripa reflected on her body transformation after she stopped drinking eight years ago.

In the show’s opening segment, the Watch What Happens Live host revealed how he’s currently taking part in “Dry January” and swearing off alcohol for the entire month. Sharing his experience, Cohen said that “usually a little weight loss comes my way after,” before joking, “not really happening yet.”
