Bo Horvat kept New York alive in the third round of a shootout and Kyle Palmieri scored in the fourth to back David Rittich in the Islanders’ 1-0 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night.

Kyle Palmieri clinched it in the shootout’s fourth round after Bo Horvat connected in the third round to keep the Islanders’ hopes alive. The Kraken’s Freddy Gaudreau had scored in the first round.

Islanders backup David Rittich stopped 19 shots in regulation and overtime and allowed only one goal in the shootout, securing his first shutout with New York and the eighth of his NHL career. The 33-year-old, who joined the Islanders this season after two years in Los Angeles, improved to 6-2-0.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, the New York Islanders hosted the Seattle Kraken for their first matchup of the season. This game was highly defensive, as neither team scored in regulation.
