LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - No.20 Kentucky went into a hostile environment and came out on top in the latest Battle of the Bluegrass, beating No.21 Louisville 72-62 behind a big second half performance. This is the first back-to-back wins against Louisville for the first time since 2014-15 and 2015-16.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 21/19 Louisville women's basketball team (4-2, 1-0 ACC) was done in by a poor third quarter and fell to No. 20/18 Kentucky (7-0, 0-0 SEC), 72-62, Saturday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards trailed by two at halftime but shot 3-for-20 (15%) in the third quarter and were unable to get back into the game.
No. 21 Louisville played four quarters against No. 20 Kentucky. Three were serviceable. The third was a disaster. And in that wreckage, a 72-62 loss took shape, not as a fluke, but as a flashing red warning light.
Louisville football failed to find a rhythm and execute on both sides of the ball. The Cards will have one final opportunity to improve against UK.
