Rob McElhenney has had much success in TV under that name. McElhenney, co-creator of the long-running comedy series “ It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ,” has filed for a legal name change. McElhenney is known to fans of the FXX show as Mac (a character born Ronald McDonald ), so it’s not a long ways off from that.

McElhenney’s wife, It’s Always Sunny co-star Kaitlin Olson, has shared that their two sons were less enthusiastic about the name change. “The kids are really not happy about it, because they have that last name,” she said of the decision. “And so do I, legally,” she added, despite keeping Olson as her on-screen moniker.
