Gov. Greg Abbott announced the state is placing dozens of billboards in Central American and Mexican cities to deter potential migrants from making the trek north. Abbott said the messaging on the billboards is a dose of "tough medicine" to hopefully prevent people who might be on their way to the Texas-Mexico border.

Ranchland in Eagle Pass served as the backdrop for the announced launching of a series of billboards throughout Mexico and Central America, warning migrants who are currently heading for the U.S. about the dangers and consequences of entering Texas illegally.
