The 2025 Giro d’Italia will start in Albania, the organisers of the Grand Tour event confirmed on Monday. The Giro will begin on May 9 next year, starting with three testing stages in Albania before moving on to southern Italy. There will be an early rest day in Puglia on May 12, with the remaining 19 stages taking place in Italy.

The start of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, known as Grande Partenza, will take place in Albania, organizers said in a statement on Monday. The country will host the first three stages of the traditional cycling tour on May 9-11.

Albania will host the opening three stages of the race, which begins on 9 May, with the first one taking the riders from Durres to Tirana, before an individual time trial in the capital city and the third stage begins and ends in Vlore.
