A train on a train at Gatwick Airport train station has led to passengers being evacuated, causing major disruption.

The operator’s website added that Gatwick Express services remain suspended with disruption expected to continue until 6pm. Firefighters were called in to deal with the “small fire”, which temporarily caused all services through the station to be suspended as passengers were evacuated into Gatwick’s South Terminal.

Passengers from the station have been moved to the airport's South Terminal while emergency services dealt with the blaze, a Gatwick spokesperson said. Thamselink confirmed that no trains would be stopping at Gatwick until the situation is resolved.
