The two-year veteran of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was arrested after a reported domestic incident.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer is on leave after being arrested for two counts of “assault by pointing a gun.”

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was arrested in an off-duty incident early Christmas Eve. The department said that they were called shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 to a domestic violence assault with a deadly weapon call.

Around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, officers responded to the 2000 block of Arbor Crest Court about a domestic violence assault call. When they arrived, they found 65-year-old Edward Sansone Jr. physically assaulted. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, officials said.
