The University of Colorado Boulder released an apology on Sunday strongly condemning some fans' chanting slurs targeting Latter-day Saints during the football game against Brigham Young University one day prior.
The chants included expletives and religious slurs directed at BYU, a Utah univeristy founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Now together in the Big 12, the Cougars and Buffaloes have played two memorable matchups against each other in the past year.

BYU scored 17 unanswered points, lost the lead, then regained it for good with the “tornado reverse” play, a misdirection handoff to Cody Hagen that the speedster from Draper took 32 yards for the game-winning touchdown.
It had been more than four decades since BYU last took the field in Boulder, a trip that featured Jim McMahon orchestrating the offense in royal blue.
