The Celtics aren't back on the basketball court yet, but they will be soon with training camp starting Tuesday.

Today in Boston Celtics history, the team's current arena, TD Garden, opened for the first time in 1995. Built as a replacement for the undersized and aging 'original' Boston Garden -- just nine inches to the south of the arena of today during its construction -- the new structure was opened officially on this day after a similar closing ceremony was held in the original Boston Garden.
