For the fourth week in a row, the No. 1 team in our American Conference football power rankings lost. We've got another major shakeup.
The American has four teams with eight or more wins on the season, including Navy, North Texas, Memphis and Tulane. Only the Big Ten (5 teams) and SEC (6) have more teams with 8-plus wins, while the Big 12 also has four. The American ranks fourth among NCAA FBS conferences in nonconference winning percentage through 12 weeks of the season.

The American Conference has announced East Carolina’s football schedule against league opponents in 2026. ECU hosts Florida Atlantic, Rice, South Florida and Temple inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium next fall, while traveling to Army, Charlotte, Memphis and UAB.
