Tony Vitello won the first national title of Danny White's time as Tennessee's athletics director. He left to be the San Francisco Giants' manager.

The Tony Vitello era of Tennessee baseball is over. After several days of speculation, the Vols coach took the job as the San Francisco Giants ' new manager on Oct. 22.

Vitello, 47, will become the first coach to jump directly from college baseball to managing in the MLB without any professional experience.
