A former Philadelphia Eagles football star is adding a new title to his stacked résumé. On Wednesday, DeSean Jackson will officially be introduced as Delaware State University's new head football coach.

Former Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is reportedly closing in on an agreement to become the next head coach at Delaware State University. Jackson, 38, had an on-campus interview, and the school and ex-NFL wideout are expected to “come together” soon,” ESPN reported Thursday.

DeSean Jackson makes a special appearance on campus at Delaware State University and makes a bold statement to fans and alumni.

But Jackson was unceremoniously released by former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly in the spring of 2014, coming off Jackson's best season in the NFL when he had 82 receptions for 1,332 yards. He was signed right away by Washington, and spent the next three seasons there. Jackson had some of his best games against the Eagles during that time.

Jackson is finalizing a deal to become the head coach of Delaware State's football program, according to a Thursday afternoon report from Pete Thamel of ESPN. The 38-year-old played 15 years in the NFL, ending his career in 2023 after spending time with six different teams.

The ease with which DeSean Jackson carved opposing secondaries stuck with the now 18-year-old. "It's the speed and knowing where he's going to go on the field," Delapierre said. "It's watching him be decisive about where he finna go.
