GB News on MSNNew dinosaur species discovered after being preserved in volcanic ash 209 million years agoScientists have identified a new species of pterosaur from a fossilised jawbone discovered deep in the Arizona desert. The find, in the Grand Canyon State's Petrified Forest National Park, marks the oldest-known pterosaur species in North America.
From what the researchers were able to gather, the new species of pterosaur—dubbed Eotephradactylus mcintireae after Suzanne McIntire, the FossiLab volunteer who discovered it—was small enough to comfortably perch on a person's shoulder. It likely fed on the site's fish.
