Fans and analysts have assumed ever since the Cleveland Browns added rookies Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel to their quarterback room via the 2025 draft that the club could trade or cut veteran Joe Flacco or 2022 first-round selection Kenny Pickett so that the Browns can have both Sanders and Gabriel on their active roster in September.

The Browns will lean heavily on running backs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson. Harold Fannin Jr. is the likely second tight end. Mason Graham should be a Day 1 starter. Second-round pick Carson Schwesinger, however, might be the draft pick they need to hit the quickest.

The 2025 NFL Draft saw the Cleveland Browns bring in two rookie quarterbacks. They drafted former Oregon star Dillon Gabriel in the third round and backed up that pick with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round.

It seems in the closing days of spring that the Browns could carry four active quarterbacks on their Week 1 roster.

The Browns have been dealing with a quarterback curse since the turn of the century and even within the last decade, they've got a long list of failed QBs.
