According to Bill Simmons, Boston native and Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is one of the finalists to buy the Celtics.

Jeffrey Lurie's Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to secure another Super Bowl ring. The last time they did, they defeated Lurie's hometown team: the New England Patriots. But this week, Lurie's name has been making headlines because of a different Massachusetts team.

Current Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca remains the only person to publicly state his intentions of entering the bidding process.

Lurie was born in Boston and has degrees from Clark University in Worcester and Boston University. He earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Clark in 1973. He returned to campus in 2019 to deliver the commencement address.

The Boston Celtics are in the process of being sold, and a short list of interested suitors will soon be made public as part of the next leg of proceedings. According to the Ringer's Bill Simmons, one high-profile Boston native is in the running to purchase the Celtics.
