A massive fire tore through an apartment building early Saturday in northwest suburban Carpentersville, displacing 23 families, officials said.

The Carpentersville Fire Dept. said the fire happened in the early morning at the Meadowdale Apartments at 104 Meadowdale Ct. Firefighters said the fire started somewhere on the first floor and extended up to the roof. Video shows as large flames shot out of the roof of the building.
