AMD Radeon and Ryzen general manager has clarified why the RX 9070 and 9070 XT have been pushed back to a March launch after pushback online

The announcement was made by David McAfee, the VP and GM of Ryzen CPU and Radeon graphics at AMD. According to his post on X, Radeon

The Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT were expected to launch at CES 2025, but instead AMD didn't give a release date and revealed very few details about the new GPUs. We only got an RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT release date a couple of days ago when McAfee said they'll "go on sale in March".

CES 2025 set up an old-fashioned graphics card battle between Nvidia and AMD, even if the latter showed up a little late. We know when the new RTX 50 series GPUs will debut (at the end of January) and we now know when AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT cards will hit store shelves: March.

If leaked pricing for AMD's Radeon RX 9070 XT is accurate, it could mean Nvidia has a fight on its hands especially against the RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti.

Don't forget that these cards should also feature AMD's new and improved frame generation, plus improved ray tracing over previous-gen RDNA cards, too. 64 CUs on the RX 9070 XT, assuming architectural improvements, plus a much higher boost clock and 16 GB of VRAM, all seems very enticing if the price is right.

AMD's upcoming RX 9070 series GPUs are slated to officially arrive in March with a wide assortment of cards being made available at launch.

The Radeon RX 9070 Series, the first GPUs from AMD to leverage its new RDNA 4 architecture, haven't been released yet because they are too expensive relative to the competition, according to new speculation brewed by a forum post from a PCGH insider who claims that the Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT have been delayed for reasons that include "unclear marketing funds" and trouble between AMD and its retail partners.
