Scout Motors has received more than 50,000 refundable reservation deposits for its first electric pickups and SUVs, according to Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume.

Volkwagen's Scout Motors has successfully secured more than 50,000 reservation deposits for its upcoming electric lineup.

Scout Motors, maker of a new line of electrified SUVs and pickup trucks backed by Volkswagen AG, says what most US car buyers want from the brand now is its models equipped with a gasoline-fueled engine to back up the battery.

Volkswagen revived the iconic Scout truck brand last year with much fanfare. The slick new SUV and pickup truck models combine retro styling with electric power, but VW said it would throw in an optional hybrid model that comes with a gas-powered range extender to appeal to some buyers.

Bloomberg recently spoke with Scout CEO Scott Keogh during the 2025 CES event in Las Vegas and learned that Scout has already secured more than 50,000 reservations, with the majority of customers opting for the hybrid powertrain over the fully electric option.
