A tsunami advisory was issued for Alaska's Aleutian Islands, with possible tsunami activity occurring in Shemya, Alaska, at 12:25 AKDT, according to the USGS.

During an advisory overview and response briefing with the Honolulu City Council on Thursday, Honolulu’s Department of Emergency Management and Honolulu Police found early alerts worked as intended, but communication and traffic management fell short.
A Magnitude 5.9 earthquake rumbled off the Oregon Coast at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The relatively large temblor, taking place some 230 miles west of Bandon, was followed by another, possibly related Magnitude 3.0 quake nearby in the Pacific Ocean.
The National Tsunami Warning Center had issued an advisory for the western end of the Aleutian Islands, from Amchitka Pass to Attu.
The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Russia, prompting close monitoring in Alaska, Hawaii and the U.S. West Coast. But no tsunami waves were detected along the remote island chain and the tsunami advisory was canceled.

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii from a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck off the coast of Russia this morning, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center officials said. “Based on all available data a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii,” PTWC officials said at 10:41 a.m.
