A once-in-a-lifetime winter storm pummeled the South, all the way down to the Gulf Coast, with snow and ice. Here's the latest.

The first touches of Winter Storm Enzo arrived in Southeast Texas on Monday night as sleet began to fall in the Houston area . Residents from Waller County to Spring and Porter, Texas recorded sleet, wintry precipitation and flurries of now as the sun set and night swept over the region.

Southeast Texas is bracing for Winter Storm Enzo, prompting airport closures in Houston and widespread travel disruptions.

So far, Winter Storm Enzo has dropped nearly 2 inches of snow on Lake Charles, Louisiana. One resident shared video to X of the snow blanketing her backyard and her generator before dawn. All of Louisiana’s southern parishes declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm’s arrival.

Winter Storm Enzo is doing as predicted: dumping heavy snow on Southeast Texas in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

Storm Enzo is already impacting portions of the U.S. South and could drop several inches of snow in spots not typically accustomed to such winter conditions.
