A new storm moving into the Northeast this weekend could cause travel headaches for millions heading home after Thanksgiving. The system will bring a mix of snow, rain, and sudden squalls, with conditions varying across the region.
The potential for our first winter storm of the season is on track for Tuesday, and the data is finally starting to line up to be able to give a preliminary look at this storm.
Forecasters say there’s a high level of uncertainty over how the storm system will develop, how strong it will be and where it will track.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Today will be cloudy, cold and breezy with a chance of snow, wintry mix and rain. Precipitation becomes likely tonight with a transition to all snow early Saturday morning. Saturday is going to be cloudy, cold and windy with snow likely.
Below-normal temperatures will stick around throughout the weekend, but a wintry mix is also possible, forecasters said.
Ahead of this snowstorm, a Winter Storm Watch now blankets the western quadrant of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula: In a line from Pentwater to Big Rapids to Clare, then all the way down to the Indiana border. This covers all of West Michigan, including Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Holland, St. Joseph, South Haven and over to Jackson.
Lake effect snow will gradually taper off on Black Friday, but we may get in on another round of rain and snow to finish out the Holiday Weekend, especially on Sunday.
