A 79-year-old man is in critical condition after colliding with an SUV while cycling in the Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough of Montreal on Friday.

Pascal Varennes was convicted of manslaughter for the 2015 death, but an appeal court ordered a new trial after the prosecution challenged a not-guilty verdict on a murder charge.
