Real Madrid have signed Spanish defender Alvaro Carreras from Benfica. The 22-year-old has joined the Spanish club in a deal which is reported to be worth £43m and has signed a six-year contract. Carreras was part of Real Madrid's youth set-up from 2017 to 2020 before joining Manchester United.

Real Madrid have signed defender Alvaro Carreras from Benfica, the LaLiga club said on Monday, marking a return to the Spanish side for the 22-year-old after he previously spent three years at Real's academy.

The Spain youth international has spent time at Manchester United, Preston North End, Grenada and Benfica since he was last at Madrid.
