Qualcomm's innovative Snapdragon processors are properly licensed under an agreement with Arm Holdings, a jury found in a U.S. federal court trial that removed some, but not all, uncertainty around the San Diego-based company's expansion into the laptop market.

Although it ended in a mistrial, the jury sided with Qualcomm on one of the lawsuit's most important questions.

Nuvia was started by ex-Apple and ex-Arm employees who originally sought to design all-new Arm-based chips for servers. However, Qualcomm swooped in with $1.4 billion to change their mind (and direction), instead making high-end processors for Windows PCs that could compete against Apple.
