An under-the-weather Edmonton Oilers head coach, Kris Knoblauch, spoke after practice today and said there's a bug going through the team that will potentially impact the final couple of preseason games.
The Edmonton Oilers are looking for ways to maximize the roster while staying under a salary cap that leaves almost no room to maneuver. This week, analyst Jonathan Willis laid out a scenario in which the Oilers could claim Boston Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro off waivers without needing to move out a big contract.

Speaking on Monday’s episode of the “32 Thoughts” podcast, Friedman pointed to the Oilers’ decision not to claim former Utah Mammoth goalie Connor Ingram off waivers earlier this preseason. Ingram cleared waivers, and will be assigned to Tucson, per TSN’s Chris Johnston.

The season-opening lineup up front is starting to come into focus as training camp progresses and hints are dropped along the way.
Goaltending: The Oilers may seek an AHL goalie with no clear upgrade available. No. 3 Right Wing: Matt Savoie has potential in a top-nine role, but Connor Brown might be preferred. No. 3 Center: Adam Henrique’s age and weak preseason have raised doubts.
The Vancouver Canucks are officially in the second half of the preseason and will travel to Edmonton to face the Oilers in an all-Canadian matchup on Sunday evening. Drew O’Connor skates on a line with Filip Chytil and Conor Garland at the Canucks’ practice on Saturday.
