The family of folk singer Michael Hurley, known as the "Godfather of freak folk," revealed on Thursday that Hurley has died.

Michael Hurley, a legendary singer-songwriter known as the “Godfather of freak folk” has died. He was 83. His family announced his death through his record label — No Quarter Records — on Instagram.
