India and Kuwait on Sunday elevated their ties to a strategic partnership and inked a key pact for defence cooperation after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held extensive talks with Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other top leaders of the Gulf nation.

Kuwait and India also renewed the Cultural Exchange Program (CEP) for 2025-2029, which will promote cultural exchange through art, music, and literature festivals. They also signed the Executive Program for Sports Cooperation for 2025-2028, which will enhance mutual exchanges, visits by athletes, and the organization of sports-related events.
