Jimmy Kimmel openly address his return to television following his show's indefinite hiatus during an appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host recalled there being a vote with ABC executives about whether to pull his show off the air initially and that he "lost the vote."

Colbert, who shared the same post, is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday, while Kimmel is scheduled to appear on Colbert's The Late Show on the same night. Meyers was not listed on either show's guest lineup, but it appears that he dropped in for JKL 's segment with Colbert.

Both Kimmel and Colbert heard from unexpected people when they became headline news. Colbert revealed that he heard from a high school girlfriend, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and James Taylor when his show was axed. Kimmel revealed that Taylor also sent him a text. “I want to see if JT did a cut and paste on us,” he joked.
