Florida, Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto

Hurricane Imelda formed on Tuesday as it moved away from Florida and the Bahamas with a path that could make a direct hit on Bermuda, according to the National Hurricane Center.
A new Florida law, which takes effect Oct. 1, was inspired by a dog that was tied up and abandoned during Hurricane Milton.
While Imelda is expected to move away from South Carolina and the United States, dangerous beach conditions, including rough surf, high seas and life-threatening rip currents are expected to continue spreading from Florida north to much of the U.S. east coast, according to the National Hurricane Center.
You may recall that last year Milton popped up in the SW Gulf and moved right into our area as a major category 3 hurricane. Wilma was a major Oct. storm which slammed into SW Florida and crossed the state hitting Ft. Lauderdale hard.
The lawsuit filed in circuit court in Tallahassee asserts that the new law is “the largest incursion into local home rule authority” since 1968.
