Keir Starmer has been urged to back Denmark in its row with Donald Trump over the future of Greenland. The prime minister will hold talks with his Danish counterpart, Mette Frederiksen, in 10 Downing Street on Tuesday evening.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she now understood the need for the island nation to secure its borders as competition for the thawing Arctic regions heats up.

Trump has shown interest in making Greenland part of the US and has not dismissed the use of military or economic power.
