From retail to grocery chains, many companies across the U.S. close early on Christmas Eve and shut their doors entirely on Christmas Day — while others opt to cut back hours. But there’s also a handful of businesses that stay open on the holiday.

Your options are extremely limited today if you need to shop for ingredients for Christmas cookies, holiday meals or last-minute gifts.The big picture: Most grocery stores and retailers are closed Wednesday but drugstore chains and many convenience stores are open.

Just like Christmas, most CVS stores will be open on New Year’s Eve, as well as New Year’s Day 2024, which falls on Wednesday, Jan. 1 this year. Of course, it’s always a good idea to check ahead of time on the store locator before you go as different stores may have adjusted hours.
