Associated Press journalists reported schools and businesses shut down early in Bermuda on Wednesday as hurricane-force winds approached the island. Between 9 p.m. Wednesday and midnight on Thursday, Imelda's wind and rain moved directly over Bermuda.

Hurricane Humberto's swells will probably cause "life-threatening surf and rip current conditions," the National Hurricane Center warned.
According to the National Hurricane Center's 5 p.m. Monday advisory, Category 4 Hurricane Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 295 miles southwest of Bermuda. Packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, the hurricane is tracking to the north-northwest at 13 mph.
